President Buhari has released a statement on the released 105 Dapchi school girls, as he took to his social media handle to put out few words on the incident that happened just yesterday. The President who received the news of the released Dapchi girls with great joy, said he will do everything within his powers to make sure the only Christian Leah Sharibu who was part of those kidnapped but was unfortunate not to have been released, promising she will regain her freedom, and all others that are yet to be freed.
The Dapchi School Girls were released in the early hours of Wednesday morning, and the news was greeted with a lot of excitement and also condemnation, but Nigerians were happy that the girls were released, after spending almost 21days in captivity. The President taking to his twitter handle, @MBuhari put out these few words:
I received the news of the return of our Dapchi daughters with great joy. And I look forward to receiving them at the State House. I thank everyone who was involved in the negotiations for their return. It is disheartening that one of the girls, Leah Sharibu, remains in captivity. Let me assure that I am as committed to her freedom as I was to the girls’ freedom when all 110 of them were in captivity. We will do everything in our power to bring Leah back safely. My heart goes out to Leah’s parents, who must watch other parents rejoice while their own daughter remains in captivity. It is my responsibility, under the Constitution of Nigeria, to protect all Nigerians—and I will always strive to do that. Leah will not be abandoned.
