Nigerian midfielder Peter Etebo, has joined English Premier League side, Watford FC on a season-long loan. He is moving from Stoke City after completing his medical on Friday.

The club in a social media post on Friday 9th July 2021, while confirming the loan signing of Peter Etebo, said the deal agreed with Stoke City for the Nigerian international, was with an option to buy.

The box-to-box midfielder, 25, is capped 38 times by Nigeria’s senior team, having previously turned out 19 times for the Super Eagles’ Under-23s.

Since joining the Potters in June 2018, Peter Etebo has also spent time on loan at Getafe and Galatasaray, appearing in the Europa League for the latter.

It will be the third time he has joined a club on loan since signing a five-year deal with Stoke, ahead of the 2018 World Cup in Russia.

Aside from the signing of Peter Etebo, the club also confirmed the signing of yet another Nigerian, 19-year-old forward, Dapo Mebude on a two-year contract, with a further two-year option.

The Scotland youth international came through the ranks at Glasgow Rangers and made his debut in May 2019 before leaving the Scottish Premiership title-holders earlier this month.

Mebude also enjoyed a loan spell at Scottish Championship side Queen of the South in early 2021, scoring twice in 11 league outings.

In 23 caps across the Scottish Under-17, Under-18, and Under-19 teams, Mebude scored six goals as he featured alongside the likes of Watford’s Sonny Blu Lo-Everton.
