Popular Nigerian media personality and politician, Dayo Adeneye, also known as D1, has announced the passing of his beloved mother.

The former Ogun State Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Dayo Adeneye who did not revealed the cause of his mother’s death…which we are guessing is age related, in announcing the death of his mother, Iya Kayode also popularly called mama D1, took to his official social media handle on Friday 10th March 2023, to post an old photo of his mother and himself, with these words as a tribute to her.

Good night my sweet mother. Iya Kayode (mama D1) has gone to rest and be with her maker.
You lived a great life and we, your children are all the better for it
Thank you Mum.
Gbo gbo wa la ma sbeyin arugbo wa” he said.

Dayo Adeneye is a household name in the Nigerian entertainment industry, who alongside his best friend Keke Kenny Ogungbe contributed in no small measure to changing the face of Nigeria’s thriving music industry.

In 1998, he started the AIT Jamz music show alongside his close friend Kenny Ogungbe, and their platform went on to discover music superstars including 2Baba, Tony Tetuila, Paul Play Dairo, Eedris Abdulkareem and many others.

In 2015, he ventured into politics as a commissioner under the then Governor Ibikunle Amosun.

May her soul rest in perfect peace.
Since the post, friends, fans and his followers have been posting their condolences in the comment section of his official social media handle.
