Senator Ben Murra-Bruce has joined other world leaders to pay tribute to former Ghanaian leader, and a very good friend of his, Jerry John Rawlings whose death was announced on Thursday.
Senator Ben Murray-Bruce who represented Bayelsa East senatorial zone from 2015-2019, taking to his official Twitter handle on Thursday, sent out his condolences to the whole of Ghana, saying:
“Jerry John Rawlings was my good friend. A revolutionary and a great man. I recall how I would often visit him and his dear wife at his home in Ghana. He will be dearly missed. My condolences to the whole of Ghana and all the loved ones he left behind. May his soul rest in peace”, he said.
Former President of Ghana, Jerry Rawlings died at the age of 73. The sad news of his death was announced on Thursday 12th November 2020.
Jerry Rawlings who was born on 22nd June 1947 to a Ghanaian mother and a Scottish father, died after a brief illness. He was the Head of State from 1981 to 2001 and briefly in 1979.
The former President was said to have been on admission at the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital for about a week for an undisclosed ailment, before the news of his death today.
