Kaduna State Government, reacting to the renewed killings in some part of the State over farmland, has announced the imposition of a 24-hour curfew in Local Government Areas that recorded violent conflicts.
The 24-hour curfew which the government says takes an immediate effect, was imposed on Atyap Chiefdom of Zangon Kataf Local Government and Chawai Chiefdom in Kauru local government areas of the state.
The Kaduna State government, in the statement released on Thursday 11th June 2020, by the Commissioner of Internal Security Mr Samuel Aruwan, assured that security agencies are containing the tension rising from the clash that happened week. The government also stated that the clash was over farmland in Zangon-Kataf area of the state.
Stating further, the State government added that community leaders have tried to resolve the issue, but it seems to have escalated, assuring citizens that the Commissioner of Internal Security Samuel Aruwan and the Commissioner of Police are in the area, leading efforts to restore calm.
