The immediate past President of the Nigerian Senate, Senator Bukola Saraki and his wife, Toyin Saraki have expressed shock and sadness to the news of the passing of Ex-Ghanaian President, Jerry Rawlings.

Senator Bukola Saraki and his wife Toyin Saraki, joined other world leaders to mourn one of the greatest Africa leaders, as they took to their separate and official Twitter handle to register their condolences to the Jerry Rawlings family.

In paying tribute to the late and ex-Ghanaian President, Senator Saraki also commiserated with President Akufo Addo of Ghana, saying:

From his early days as a young revolutionary, to his later years as a renowned statesman and pan-Africanist, Jerry Rawlings always led from the front and matched his words with his actions.

As we mourn his death, I commiserate with President @NAkufoAddo and our Ghanaian brothers and sisters. It is my prayer that God will grant President Rawlings eternal rest — as we all take solace in his achievements and contributions to the development of a more united continent“, he said.

On her part, Toyin Saraki, taking to her Twitter handle, commiserated with the wife of Jerry Rawlings, Nana Konadu Agyeman Rawlings. She tweeted this message:

My heartfelt condolences to Nana Konadu Agyeman Rawlings and the family, upon the passing of Former President H.E. John Jerry Rawlings of our neighbour-nation Ghana, today. May God grant him eternal and restful peace. Amen”, she said.

Although no official statement yet from the Ghanaian government as to what led to death of the  Ex-Ghanaian President, but reports have it that Jerry Rawlings died from COVID-19 on Thursday 12th November 2020.
