Dutch defender, Virgil Van Dijk is set to become Liverpool’s highest-paid player in history. This is so, as reports from Dailymail has it that the defender has agreed to a new five-year contract worth £220,000 a week, to remain at Anfield.
According to the report by DailyMail, Virgil Van Dijk will become Liverpool’s highest-paid when he signs the new and improved five-year contract worth £57million, as they are set to lift the 2019/2020 English Premier League.
This also ends any fears of the 28-year-old signing for French giants Paris Saint-Germain who have made it known that they want to sign him.
The Dutchman became the most expensive defender in the world in 2018 when he signed from Southampton for £75million.
