Governor Ifeanyi Okowa of Delta State has sworn in former Delta State House of Assembly Deputy Speaker, Rt Hon. Funkekeme Solomon as his Senior Political Adviser. The ceremony took place at the State Capital Asaba on Thursday 6th June 2019.
This is coming only a few days after the Governor who has kicked off his second term as the Governor of the oil-rich state, announced the appointments of the immediate past Delta State Commissioner for Basic and Primary Education, Mr. Chiedu Ebie as Secretary to Delta State Government, a former Commissioner for Finance, Chief David Edevbie as his Chief of Staff and Ex-Deputy Speaker of Delta State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Funkekeme Solomon who has been sworn in today as the Senior Political Adviser.
Governor Ifeanyi Okowa who has hinted that his administration will continue to prioritize competence over sentiments as he builds a better Delta, during the swearing-in ceremony praise Hon. Funkekeme Solomon who was the DG of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Campaign Organisation in Delta State for his achievement during and after the general elections. He said:
“Today, I was pleased to swear-in Rt. Hon. Funkekeme Solomon, a proven political gladiator, as my Senior Political Adviser. In this lead advisory role, Rt. Hon. Solomon will be tasked with providing me with critical feedback on the public’s opinion on key issues” the Governor said.
On the general elections and how Rt. Hon. Funkekeme Solomon and his team worked tirelessly to return Governor Okowa and PDP for a second term, the Governor had this to say:
“During the 2019 General Elections, as the DG of the PDP Campaign Organisation, Rt. Hon. Solomon led the party to a record breaking victory in the Governorship election. We won in 23 out of the 25 LGAs of the State and had an unprecedented margin of victory in terms of votes cast.
Aside from his great political acumen, Rt. Hon. Solomon is a man of great courage and character. He is also a passionate fighter who is calculating and highly resourceful. Hence, I have no doubt that he has been well-prepared for the office of Senior Political Adviser.” he said.
