A female soldier identified as ‘Mamman H’ by the name tag on her uniform, was tapped beating up a man on crutches in Ibadan, the Oyo State Capital.

Although we cannot substantiate these claims, or when the incident happened, but according to the victim, one Olumuyiwa Bolade Adedeji, who is physically challenged, and shared the video on his Facebook page, said the incident happened on Thursday 3rd December 2020.

In his narration of the incident, he said he was beaten up by the female soldier at the popular Mokola area of Ibadan. He alleged that he was beaten up because the female soldier’s child ran across and in front of the vehicle he was driving in and although the child was not hit, he got the beaten of his life.

He said the incident happened on Wednesday, but the female soldier waylaid him in front of the one Josabig Nursery and Primary School Oke Itunnu, Mokola Ibadan. He also alleged that the female soldier and another woman with three other men slapped severally.

Posting the photos of the female soldier and the short video showing the female soldier and what appeared to be a man (the victim)with crutches trying to get out of a car and being flogged by the soldier with another woman by the side, he captioned the post with this narration:

I was beaten up by this military woman this morning. My offence was that her child ran in front of our moving vehicle but was not touched. I got out of the car to warn the child not to run in front of a moving vehicle again. That happened yesterday.

This morning, this military woman waylaid me in front of the school, Josabig Nursery and Primary School Oke Itunnu, Mokola Ibadan. She and another woman with 3 other men slapped severally. We couldn’t do much myself and only the children in the vehicle. On our way back, she was fully kitted in Nigeria Army Uniform as seen below, I knew a foul play will happen told my daughter to start recording, she started beating me again as seen in the attached video.

Her accomplices wanted to join until they realised they were been recorded. I am currently on my way to letmack barracks Mokola to lodge a formal complaint. For the avoidance of doubt I am a physically challenged man. On crutches Thanks,” he said.

Stating further, the victim said:

“The follow up: The soldiers at Mokola Barracks would not allow us in after showing the video. After some forceful arguments, we had our way in.

The story however changed when we got to the military police unit at Mokola Barracks, where, after making me to walk for several kilometers in the name of looking for the woman, claimed she is an unknown soldier.

We are taking it to the next level,” he added.

This will be the second time a soldier will be tapped harassing a civilian in Ibadan, as a few weeks back, a male soldier this time, in a viral video, was shown harassing an innocent lady, for dressing ‘indecently’.

While Nigerians condemned the act, and the soldier allegedly arrested, nothing further has been heard about the soldier nor the lady whose rights were violated.

This is yet another case for the Nigerian Army, as cases such as this keep on happening across the country, with no one being held accountable for their actions.
