Police Begins Investigation Into Rivers State Assembly Crisis

The Nigerian Police Force have commenced an investigation into the Rivers State Assembly crisis, especially on the alleged incident between some men of the Rivers State Police Command and the embattled Governor, Fubara outside of the Assembly complex.

Governor Fubara of Rivers State who is battling his alleged godfather and his loyalists to remain as the executive governor of Rivers State, had earlier alleged that his life was threatened by some Policemen while on his way to the Rivers State House of Assembly complex on Monday.

A video was also uploaded online to show the incident between the Governor and the Police in Rivers State where supporters of the governor were resisting his planned impeachment…the Rivers State Assembly crisis is beginning to look like the Nigerian Politics of 1999 and early 2000s.

The Nigerian Police in a statement released on their official social media handle on Monday 30th October 2023, stated that they are aware of the security situation at the Rivers State House of Assembly Complex, and went on to say that:

“The Rivers State Police Command is actively addressing the matter. We’ve launched a comprehensive investigation to uncover the circumstances and will take immediate action against those responsible. Stay tuned for further updates. Your safety remains our priority,” the message posted on X formerly Twitter said.
