After he was reported to be dropping the traditional Yoruba Oba title of Olowu of Iwoland for the Emir title which is an equivalent of the Oba title from the northern part of Nigeria, the Olowu of Iwoland Oba Adewale Abdulrasheed has dismissed such claims. The traditional ruler in his latest message on social media said he never at any time was nursing such a thought as his Yoruba tradition his supreme to any other title world over, and anyone one who believes such ‘nonsense’ does that at his or her own risk. He said.
If you could recall, just a few weeks back the Oba was dragged on social media after a former minister of Aviation Femi Fani Kayode called him a ‘treacherous bastard’ after he was reported that the Oba was throwing away his tradition for a tradition the former minister called ‘Foreign’. This was what the former minister said then:
This is Oba Abdulrasheed Akanbi, the Oluwo of Iwo who now insists that he must be called the Emir of Yorubaland.
He is a gutless and treacherous bastard who is an Islamofascist and who has sold his people to the Fulani raiders.
May God curse the day that he was born.
The Oba himself put up this message a few hours ago:
Nobody ever said he’s changing from Oba to Emir …. I am Oluwo of Iwoland and if you listen to media that wants to use my name to sell their papers …. I can’t help you . #okiki timo ni yi koito Edumare…. Bami wami si Edumare ….
