Doyin Okupe Resigns From Labour Party

The former Director-General (DG) of the Labour Party Presidential Campaign Organisation, Doyin Okupe has resigned his membership of the party.

He announced his resignation in a letter sighted by The Nation on Monday, January 8.

Recall that in 2023, Doyin Okupe stepped aside from his position as the DG of the Labour Party (LP) Presidential Campaign Council.

Doyin Okupe, a trained physician, was the spokesperson for the Third Republic National Republican Convention in the early 1990s.

He was twice a presidential spokesperson, working for Olusegun Obasanjo and Goodluck Jonathan.

He said: “I submit herewith my letter of resignation from the Labour Party with effect from today. You will recall that our flagbearer, Mr Peter Obi, myself and others left the PDP abruptly and had to look for a Special Purpose Vehicle in which to contest the 2023 Presidential Elections.
