COVID-19: 5 Repatriated Almajirai From Kano Tested Postive In Kaduna

The Kaduna State Government has confirmed that five recently repatriated sets of Almajirai from Kano has tested positive to the coronavirus, taking the state’s total figure of confirmed cases as at Monday 27th April 2020, to nine.

In a short statement released a few hours ago by the Kaduna state Governor, Governor El-Rufai on his official social media handles, said the State’s Commissioner of Health, Dr. Amina Baloni confirmed that five new cases of Covid-19 have been reported. The five new cases were identified among five almajirai who were in a set that was recently repatriated from Kano state to Kaduna State. This latest development has increased active Covid-19 cases in the state to nine.

Dr Amina Baloni in a statement confirming the sad news, said:

Kaduna State Ministry of health regrets to confirm that five new cases of the COVID-19 have been identified in the state.
There is now nine active cases in the state.

The new cases are almajirai who were recently repatriated from Kano.

The contacts of the new cases are being traced so that they can be monitored and tested if they meet the case definition.

The new patients have been moved to Infectious Disease Control Center, the state premier’s Isolation centre. Our medical professionals are treating them with high standards and we wish all our nine active cases speedy recovery.

Testing capacity has increased in the state. Two labs, one each in Kaduna and Zaria have been acredited by NCDC to carry out COVID-19 tests.

The Ministry of health wishes to remind the general public of the importance of hand washing, person hygiene, social distancing, and avoidance of large gatherings in helping to protect us all from COVID-19. It is important to stay, stay save and save lives,” the satement added.
