Model and Philadelphia rapper Chynna Rogers, has died at the age of 25, her family said in a statement.
Chynna Rogers began modelling as a teenager when she signed with Ford Models at the age of 14.
She then started her rap career by working with the producer A$AP Yams, who died in 2015, after sending him on a message on Twitter.
Announcing her death, Rogers’ family said in a statement: “Chynna was deeply loved and will be sorely missed.”
Since her death was announced, fans have trooped to social media to send out their condolences to the family of Chynna Rogers
Singer-songwriter Kehlani tweeted: “Chynna you were f**kin hilarious bro… today was our last exchange of jokes & those I will miss the most.
“i can’t believe it idk how to i love you. so very much. my heart is officially iced.”
A post on the A$AP Mob Twitter account reads: “REST EASY CHYNNA. WE GON MISS U SIS.”
Her early musical hits including Selfie, released in 2013, and Glen Coco, which debuted a year later. Writing in 2018, Pitchfork praised the rising star for “her magnetic charisma, unfettered rawness, and natural understanding of form.”
Chynna Rogers struggled with opiate addiction and often candidly addressed her issues in her music.
On her 22nd birthday, in 2016, she released the mixtape 90 Days to mark being three months sober.
