The Governor of Kano State, Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje in his quest to further consolidate the girl child education and women empowerment in modern time Kano, has approved the establishment of Kano State Women College of Education (Technical), to re-engineer and prepare women for daily challenges of life.

In a statement released by the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Abba, the Governor made this known when members of the Kano State College of Education and Preliminary Studies community paid him a courtesy visit at his office, Friday, under the Provost of the College, Dr Sunusi Yakubu Ahmad.

“We want our women to compete with other women for them to develop excellently well. We need them to be part and parcel of our development, with the view to creating more spaces for them to contribute towards our growth and development as a state and the nation in general,” he said.

While assuring that, the proposed College would form part of strategies for critically empowering women as critical partners in developing our society and human development in particular.

“It is our belief in girl child education and our resolve to take women to the next level, among others that informed our decision to come up with this great and laudable objective of establishing College of Education specifically for women,” Ganduje posits.

This idea of College for Women brings into limelight Ganduje administration’s concern for women development, which he considers as an integral part of legacies he wants to leave behind after his second term in office.
He added that whenever he talks of education, “…what readily comes to my mind is human development. And we decided to take the College into the next level as we are doing the same for other educational institutions.”

According to him, education without a plan is planned to fail, insisting that, “That is why we always insist that, our education system must always be planned for it to develop very well. What we have just heard from the Provost about all the feats achieved in the College, were possible because we plan our education system.”
