Saudi Arabia to host Anthony Joshua and Andy Ruiz rematch

After weeks of uncertainty and intense negotiations from both the camp of British boxer, Anthony Joshua and Mexican Andy Ruiz, as to the venue and date of their rematch, we are pleased to let you know that all parties involved have now reached an agreement, and the fight will be taking place in Diriyah Saudi Arabia, and on the 7th of December 2019.

Before both parties settled for Saudi Arabia, which still somehow favours Anthony Joshua due to his relationship and huge fan base there, Andy Ruiz who knocked out Joshua in the seventh round of their first meeting on 1 June 2019, in New York, taking his IBF, WBA, WBO and IBO heavyweight titles from him in the process, had wanted a rematch in his home country of Mexico. His opponent and former world heavyweight champion, Anthony Joshua also wanted the rematch to happen in the United Kingdom, and that dragged on for some time, before this great news on Friday.

Anthony Joshua who has been speaking on the fight and still confident he will beat Andy Ruiz and get back his belts, posted the message on Friday confirming the date and venue.
Speaking to Sky Sports about the battle, he said:

There are two ends to it. One, I’ll fight in Tijuana and Ruiz’s uncle can be the referee and I’ll still whoop him. It doesn’t matter to me where it is – there’s that aspect. ‘But then there’s the other where the British fans that have been riding with me from day one want to see me get them belts back. ‘Walking out in Cardiff in front of 70, 80, 90,000 people screaming for me to win, that type of energy that goes through your body is unstoppable. ‘However, it’s going to be on neutral ground.’ he said.

After this confirmation, and even without saying it to his hearing, Anthony Joshua knows he has to get back those belts! as everything going forward career wise in boxing, depends on him winning back those belts. It is going to be a tough one, but having prepared for the Mexican this time, unlike the first, the British Boxer funny enough, just like the first meeting his highly favoured to reclaim his belts.
