The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC continued in their relentless efforts at making sure the country is rid of fraudsters, especially the popular Yahoo-Yahoo, as on Tuesday the agency secured separate convictions of two internet fraudsters, named Kingsley Umunna Chinweike and Ugwu Vincent.

According to a statement released by the Anti-graft agency, the suspects were convicted by Justices C.O Ajah and K.I Okpe both of State High Court, Enugu on one count similar charges each bordering on internet fraud to the tune of N440,000.00 (Four Hundred and Forty Thousand Naira).

The convicts Kingsley Umunna Chinweike and Ugwu Vincent pleaded guilty as charged when arraigned in their separate courts.

A petitioner had alleged that Chinweike and his co-accused compromised his Fidelity Bank account number, 6050768973 through a staff of the said bank while he was abroad. He told the Commission that the convicts fraudulently transferred the sum of N440, 000 from his Fidelity bank account to an account domiciled with the first bank account number 31111230782 stating that all his efforts to recover his money from the convicts or his bank proved abortive.

Justice C.O Ajah, after reviewing the charge against Kingsley Umunna Chinweike, convicted him and sentenced him to three months imprisonment starting from the date of his arrest.

Similarly, Justice K.I Okpe found Ugwu Vincent guilty and sentenced him to three months imprisonment with an option of N100,000 only.
