Barcelona crashed out of the UEFA Champions League, after suffering an embarrassing defeat in the hands of English Premier League club side, Liverpool at Anfield.
The Champions League game on Tuesday night, saw Liverpool complete an epic comeback in the history of the club, coming back from a 3-0 deficit in the first leg of the tie at Camp Nou, and knocking Barcelona out of the competition, in the same manner, they were knocked out last season.
The game started well for Liverpool as expected, and despite missing their key man Salah to injury, they took their chances unlike in the first leg. They were a goal up as fast as in the 7th minutes of the game, through a tap in from the big Belgian, Divock Origi, who was given a start.
Divock Origi puts the host ahead in the game, after an ill-advised back-pass from Alba was pounced on by Sadio Mane, who fed Jordan Henderson and after an initial block from Barcelona goalkeeper Marc-Andre Ter Stegen on Henderson’s initial effort, Divock Origi was there to sweep in the rebound for a 1-0 Liverpool lead.
The other goals were scored by Wijnaldum who came in from the bench, as his brace and that of Origi, helped Liverpool beat Barcelona, as the results from both tiers, ended 4-3 in favour of Liverpool.
The result also means Barcelona crashed out of the Champions League, for the second time in a row, with Messi and Suarez having some extra day off as they were no where to be found in that game.
This defeat means both Barcelona and Real Madrid have been disgraced out of this season’s UEFA Champions League, signalling a somewhat decline in the dominance of Spanish League in Europe…
