Chelsea and German national team defender, Toni Ruediger has been ruled out of the season, after undergoing successful knee surgery.

Toni Ruediger who will be missed at this crucial moment of the season for Chelsea, both at the Europa League and the two remaining Premier League games, regretted that he will not be available to help his team and teammate for the fight for a top-four finish.

His outside volley in that game was what led to Chelsea’s equalizer, after Mata had puts the host ahead. But goalkeeper David De Gea fumbles Reudiger’s shot for a Marcus Alonso’s superb finish to give Chelsea a lifeline of a top-four finish ahead of Arsenal and the Red Devils themselves.

Toni Ruediger who ought to have missed that game, alongside N’golo Kante, first got injured in the Chelsea game against Liverpool and was supposed to be out for at least four weeks, but was risked by Sarri against United. He missed the Burnley game at the Bridge but was brought in for the United game, where he further compounded the injury, and could not continue.

He has since been ruled out for the rest of the season, and himself a few hours ago, put out this photo and a message, updating fans about his knee injury. He said:

“What a pity I won’t be able to help my team during the last games of the season. But my knee surgery went well and I’m already positive again ?? Thanks for all your messages and comments. And special thanks to the efforts of Professor Mariani @villastuart and his team ???? #AlwaysBelieve #Hustle #comebackstronger”
