Pierre Cassignard: French Comedian Dies At 56

A popular French actor, and comedian Pierre Cassignard is being reported to have died at the age of 56.

According to the report by French Television station BFMtv on Tuesday, the death of Pierre Cassignard, who was also a stage actor and appeared in numerous films, was announced by Actress Michèle Bernier on Instagram on Monday, who had paid tribute to the actor, actor of theater, cinema, television and director.

The cause of his death were not made public. He had celebrated his 56th birthday the day before, the report stated.

Born in Sainte-Foy-La-Grande (Gironde) on December 19, 1965, Pierre Cassignard arrived in Paris in the early 1980s to study theater and began working a few years later. 

During his career, which spanned three decades, he played in around thirty plays, from Corneille ( L’illusion comique ) to Georges Feydeau ( On purge bébé ), including Woody Allen . He also worked as a director. In 1997, he received the Molière from the actor for the play Les Jumeaux vénitiens .

Pierre Cassignard has also appeared in many successful TV films and series, such as Joséphine, ange garde or Boulevard du Palais . He has also had numerous supporting roles in cinema, notably in Les Poupées russes by Cédric Klapisch and Un Homme et son chien by Francis Huster. 

He will be showing in Mince Then 2! , by Charlotte de Turckheim, at the cinema this Wednesday.
