Barcelona one step into the UEFA Champions League, after beating Liverpool 3-0 at the Camp Nou in the first leg of the semifinals. The goals came from the usual suspects, Messi and Saurez, but it was Messi who showed once more how badly he wanted to bring back the Champions League to the Camp Nou scoring a superb free-kick for his 600th goal.
Luiz Suarez got a goal against his former side and celebrated like a true footballer should, before Lionel Messi scored a brace, one of which was a sensational goal via a free kick from a long way out, to give Barcelona an emphatic 3-0 victory over Liverpool.
The game was not the usual Barcelona free passing game, as Liverpool lined up in such a way that it was difficult for Messi and his teammates to play their normal football. Although some people might want to complain that Barcelona were packing the bus, looking at what Kloop lined up at the midfield, with Milner, Wijnaldum, Keita, and Fabinho, it was going to be difficult for Barcelona. They had the likes of Busquets, Rakitic, and Vidal who are not as quick as the Liverpool four in the midfield.
Liverpool asserted their control for a large part of the game, but could not take their chances. Barcelona were more patient and did well to withstand the Liverpool pressure and delivered a pair of late blows via Messi to take a commanding lead in the tie.
Barcelona one step into the final, as it will require a lot for Liverpool to overcome three goals when they will be playing next week at Anfield.
