Breaking: Kidnapped UBEC Chairman and daughter regain freedom

The Nigerian Police Force has in a statement released a few hours ago, confirmed that the Universal Basic Education Commission UBEC Chairman Dr Muhammad Abubakar and his daughter who were kidnapped on Monday along Kaduna-Abuja Highway have been released.

The statement released by the Police which did not state whether or not a ransom was paid, reads:

“This is to bring to the knowledge of all Nigerians that Dr Mohammed Mahmoud Abubakar, the Chairman of UBEC and his daughter, Yesmin Mohammed who were kidnapped yesterday along Abuja-KADUNA expressway have been released

Meanwhile, one male suspect has been arrested in connection with the crime. One AK47 Rifle also recovered. An investigation into the incident is on-going.” that statement said.
