The Nigerian Army has a few hours ago, released another Statement giving further details on the accident involving buratai convoy and that of a civilian vehicle.

The Nigerian Army who had earlier released a statement stating that the official car of the Chief Of Army Staff (COAS) LT. Gen. Buratai was involved in an accident along Jere Kaduna road,but the Army Chief at the time of the accident was not in the vehicle when the accident occurred, said the accident was alcohol related.

In this latest statement, the Army attributed the cause of the accident to be alcohol related, as the civilian driver (whose identity was not given ) that rammed into the Buratai convoy was noticed to have smelling heavily of alcohol after close examination and although he has been handed over to the police, investigation are still ongoing. The statement reads:

“The driver of the civilian car that rammed into the convoy of the COAS is presently receiving medical attention at a NA Medical facility. Case has been reported to the Police and Investigation has commenced. Initial findings showed the civilian driver was smelling alcohol”

The COAS’ official staff car had an accident at Jere town on the way to Kaduna today 11 November 2018 at about 6.00 p.m.

The staff car was in a convoy along with other vehicles when a lone civilian vehicle veered off its lane and rammed into the staff car.

The COAS was not in the car. However, the ADC sustained minor injuries and has been evacuated to a nearby hospital for medical attention. This is for your information please. Pictures below.”
