Qatar: President Muhammadu Buhari has expressed sadness over the sudden death of Nigeria’s Ambassador to Qatar, Mr. Abdullahi Bawa Wase.
The President in a condolence message released late night Saturday, expressed shock to the unfortunate news, and have since commiserated with the Governor of Plateaue, and families and the people of state for their loss.
The statement made available to the public by the Presidency and the Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity to President Buhari, Malam Garba Shehu reads:
President Muhammadu Buhari has expressed sadness over the sudden death of Nigeria’s Ambassador to Qatar, Mr. Abdullahi Bawa Wase.
The President, while extending his condolences to the family members, the government and people of Plateau State, praised the roles played by the late Wase in conflict resolution efforts in Plateau State.
He recalled that, even before his appointment as Ambassador, the late Wase was very prominently involved in community peace activism.
President Buhari prayed to Allah to forgive the sins of the late Ambassador and grant his family the fortitude to bear the loss.
The news of Mr. Abdullahi Bawa Wase’s death was first announced by the Plateaue State Government on Saturday, where the Governor of the State Mr. Simon Bako Lalong put out a message on his social media page, expressing shock as to the unfortunate news.
It was with heavy heart that he received the news of the demise of the Ambassador of Qatar Wase a n indigene of the state and a friend. He said:
The nation has joined the people of our dear State and myself in mourning a dear friend, a brother and illustrious Son of The Plateau, Dr. Bawa Abdullahi Wase, The Ambassador of Nigeria to the State of Qatar.
My thoughts and prayers go out to The family, the Wase emirate council, the diplomatic community and the entire people of Plateau State. I pray that the Almighty God grants Dr Haruna Abdullahi Aljanna Firdaus. Amin
