Belgium and Chelsea goalkeeper, Courtois has refuted claims that he and his father were a mole in the Belgium National team after former national team coach Wilmot accused the player of leaking team sheets to an opponent to the detriment of the entire team.

The 49-year-old Wilmot who was sacked as Belgium coach after a disappointing world cup in Brazil was alleged to have told news media in Europe that Courtois was leaking the team to the media via his father, Thierry Courtois, an allegation both Courtois have since denied.

In an interview with beIN SPORTS, Wilmots said:

“I just have a problem when I make my selection at 6pm and at 6.15pm it is on all social networks.

“It means that a player has sold the selection. And that’s serious. It came back to me from several French journalists that Courtois’ father was doing it. It means that you do not respect your homeland.

“I find it a shame, because I have to wait an hour before the match to have the opposition’s selection. And that’s terrible.

The opponent is gaining time. He can prepare everything. He knows everything. And that’s really dramatic. It never happened at the World Cup in Brazil.”

Courtois who is obviously not happy about the development has approached his lawyers as they fix a date in a court for a defamation lawsuit. Taking to his social media page, he said:

Mr Marc Wilmot affirms in particular “that means a player has sold the selection and this is serious. A French journalist has proof that it was Courtois father who was doing this.

Mr M Wilmot not for the first time reiterates publicly and intentionally accusations against my honour and reputation as well as my father and we decided together to file a complaint accompanied by criminal indemnification proceeding for libel defamation.

The statement reads. Both Chelsea and Belgium National team coach are yet to release a statement on this, and we promise to do a follow up on this story, once we get something from them.
