Governor Ifeanyi Okowa of Delta state, has in a statement confirmed the death of his father, Sir Arthur Okorie Okowa.

The Governor who released a short statement on his official Twitter handle on Thursday 28th January 2021, confirmed that his father, Sir Arthur Okorie Okowa passed away in the early hours of Thursday.

He said his father died at the age of 88 and not 87 as it was widely reported on Thursday after the sad news broke.

“My family and I regret to announce the death of our beloved father, Sir Arthur Okorie Okowa, who passed away earlier this morning.

As we celebrate the life of my late father, I thank God for the 88 wonderful years that my family and I spent with him — and the impact that God allowed him to have on everyone that he came in contact with.

We will miss him dearly. With love and light Papa, Rest In Peace! From your son, Ifeanyi,” the statement from the Governor, added.

The patriarch died at the Federal Medical Centre, Asaba, after a brief illness.

Sir Arthur Okowa was born in Owa Alero, Ika North East Local Government Area of Delta State.

His death came hours after the news of the death of Majority Leader of the Delta State House of Assembly, Mr Tim Owhefere.
