Taylor Swift’s ex-boyfriend Tom Hiddleston seems to be struggling to escape the shadow of his ex, as a hilarious radio interview, which took place back in August, has re-emerged on social media, where the actor was asked about his former partner while promoting his film The Life Of Chuck, Daily mail reports.
Tom briefly dated Taylor for three months back in 2016, with the star famously seen sporting an I Love TS T-shirt during one of their many loved-up outings.
According to the report by Daily Mail, tn the clip, Heart Radio host Dev Griffin made the Taylor comparison after Tom shared one of his unusual habits, reading sports highlights online.
He said: ‘Taylor Swift, big fan of a sourdough recipe blog, it’s very very specific but I can see how you can get into that.’
While Taylor Swift’s ex-boyfriend Tom briefly raised his eyebrows at the Taylor admission, his co-star Karen Gillan then jumped in, saying: ‘That is specific! Wait that feels like an Easter Egg for something though, no I think it might be something to do with the Superbowl!’
The interview, which was reposted by E! News, led to a sea of comments from fans who branded the exchange ‘painful.’
Comments included: ‘Karen totally doing Tom a solid gold favour by taking the focus off him;
‘This is so painful to watch… it’s been nine years, do better;’
‘This is funny because he literally has zero reaction to it;’
‘Nice one Karen! She saved Tom talking about something uncomfortable or something he doesn’t even want to remember or to be part of. Ps: I’m a swiftie but I do respect boundaries.’
Tom and Taylor were first glimpsed out together as a couple in mid-June 2015, just after her breakup from Scottish DJ Calvin Harris.
By the end of that month, Taylor had introduced Tom to her parents in Nashville and he had introduced her to his mother in England.
They were constantly seen out together that summer, inspiring such a frenzy of publicity that after they split, Tom found himself denying allegations that they had engaged in a ‘showmance,’ via GQ
During that outing, he was seen wearing an ‘I [heart] T.S.’ tank top and sporting a removable heart tattoo containing a ‘T’ on one of his triceps.
Tom became a global subject of derision over the tank top, which he later insisted was merely a private ‘joke’ between ‘friends.’
He explained: ‘The truth is, it was the Fourth of July and a public holiday and we were playing a game and I slipped and hurt my back. And I wanted to protect the graze from the sun and said: ‘Does anyone have a T-shirt?”
A pal of Taylor’s responded by producing the ‘I [heart] T.S.’ tank top and ‘we all laughed about it,’ Tom insisted. ‘It was a joke.’
By September 2016, the romance had ended in ‘an amicable split,’ per a People source, and that fall she began her seven-year relationship with Joe Alwyn.
Last month, Taylor announced she was engaged to NFL superstar Travis Kelce after two years of dating.
Meanwhile Tom has been engaged to actress Zawe Ashton since May 2022, five months before she gave birth to their first child.
They joyously announced this June that they are expecting their second baby – hours before Zawe debuted her bump at the London premiere of The Life of Chuck.
