Governor Bala Mohammed Reacts To His Victory At The Supreme Court

Governor Bala Mohammed of Bauchi state has reacted to his victory at the Supreme Court Abuja, after he was affirmed as the duly elected Governor of the State in the 2023 governorship election in the state.

Taking to his official social media handle on Friday 12th January 2024, a few minutes after the Supreme Court judgement, Governor Bala Mohammed posted a sereies of photos from the Supreme Court sitting with a caption to thank God, his supporters and the people of Bauchi state. He said:

In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful, I offer all praises to Allah for our victory. This triumph belongs to the people of Bauchi State and our esteemed party, the @OfficialPDPNig. On behalf of my family and myself, I express deep gratitude to all our stakeholders who joined us in this journey, particularly our religious and faith leaders, political associates, friends, and well-wishers. This victory reaffirms that the good work in Bauchi State must go on,” he said.

The apex court had earlier affirmed the decision of the Court of Appeal and dismissed the appeal by Sadique Abubakar of the All Progressives Congress for lacking in merit.

The appellate court had in November affirmed the victory of Governor Bala Mohammed in the March 18 governorship election.

This followed earlier judgement by the tribunal upholding Mohammed’s victory.

In the Court of Appeal judgement, the panel of three justices were unanimous, awarding no cost as the court ruled that each party to the matter should bear their costs.

The presiding judge, Justice Chidi Nwaoma Uwa, read the judgment in the order of the appellant’s plea before the appeal court.

On plea number one, the appellant had pleaded that the election be nullified because the forms and booklets used in the election were not properly filled. The court ruled that the appellant failed to prove this allegation with the needed evidence.
