Timothy Weah has joined his father and President George Weah, mother and First Lady of Liberia Clar Weah and other family members to have a dinner at a restaurant in Qatar to celebrate his goal.

The Weah family dinner is coming after Timothy Weah fulfilled his father’s dream by scoring his first goal at the ongoing Qatar FIFA World Cup.

The 22-year-old broke the deadlock in the first half of USMNT’s World Cup opener against Wales on Monday. And to thank him, President George Weah hosted him to a dinner with the family at a restaurant in Qatar.

Timothy also has a French passport but was born in New York in 2000 and made his senior debut with USMNT in 2018. According to La Stampa, his proud father was in the stands to watch him on Monday night.

Taking to his social media handle, President George Weah posted the photo of the dinner with a caption that reads: “Just had dinner with my son Timothy Weah. Proud daddy,” he said.

He is the son of Milan legend George, the current President of Liberia, who scored 58 goals in 147 appearances with the Rossoneri, winning the Ballon d’Or in 1995.

Despite a brilliant playing career, Weah never got to play at a World Cup with his national team Liberia and, as highlighted by La Stampa newspaper, he fulfilled his dream through his son who scored in his first appearance in the competition tonight.

After the match ended, Weah posted his goal on his Instagram account, with the message, “Mixed emotions,” he wrote in the caption. “This was for the U.S., this was for Liberia, this was for Jamaica, this was for my family!” he added

The Former Milan striker could have also played for France but decided to stick to his native country, scoring 16 goals in 60 international appearances.
