The Delta Police team which allegedly collected the sum of N50,000 naira as a bribe from a medical Doctor for transporting ‘medicines’ from Edo state to Onitsha Anambra state, have been identified, summoned and detained at the state Police headquarters, Police authorities say.
The statement released by the Delta State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Bright Edafe on Sunday 28th August 2022, stated that the Delta Police team have been arrested following the complaint by the medical Doctor identified on tweeter as Doctor Henry Nnaji.
Doctor Henry Nnaji in narrating his ordeal in the hands of the Delta Police team, stated that he was stopped by a group of Nigerian policemen stationed at Idumukpoko junction Delta state, and they got his baggage searched where they saw some medicines.
He stated that when he innocently opened the drug pocket to them, the Police immediately tagged the medicines as controlled drugs and requested that he pay 100k to bail himself.
He further stated that he tried calling his consultants and their resident doctors association but he had his phone seized.
According to him, since they were in the middle of nowhere, they brought out handcuffs and brought the threat game on. “The head of the “gang” said nobody was coming to save me from here. These guys finally made away with my money 50,000.00 cash,” he added.
DSP Bright Edafe who had earlier reacted to the post by Doctor Henry Nnaji on his Twitter comment section where he tweeted saying:
“My annoyance….u got the point, I don’t support what our men does, but we should not encourage them by giving Dem money wen dey request,” he said.
In a follow-up, DSP Edafe said:
“The team has been identified, summoned and detained at the State Police headquarters. The complainant has reach out to me. Their actions is completely unacceptable, on completion of their orderly room trial, I will update us all. Thanks for drawing my attention to this,” he added.
What Dr Henry Nnaji Said About His Ordeal With The Delta Police Team:
“I’ve never had a cause to talk so bitterly against the Nigerian police but for today. I’m a medical doctor travelling from Edo state to onitsha, I was stopped by this group of Nigerian police, got my baggage searched and they saw some medicines I’m currently on.

These guys finally made away with my money 50,000.00 cash. Today, I developed extreme hatred for a country I call Mine because of the elements we have as security agents.
