Arsenal and Super Eagles of Nigeria midfielder, Alex Iwobi showed class as England beat Nigeria 2-1 in the just concluded international friendly played at the Wembley.

The Arsenal man with a good understanding with the captain of the team, John Obi Mikel was able to give the team which was sloppy in the first half, a much-needed balance in the second half to pull a goal back after going 2-0 down in the first half.

The much-anticipated game started well for England, who had the likes of Cahil, Stones, Walker, Dier, Trippier, and Young all at the back, with Dele Alli, Lingard, Kane and Sterling operating far ahead. They troubled the Eagles with their fast passing, and wing balls, with ball penetration from the middle, that saw midfielder Onazi struggling to have a hold on the game.

Chelsea captain Gary Cahil was the man that put England ahead, with a fine header from a corner, before Kane hit a grounder to beat the Super Eagles goalkeeper who struggled to get down quickly for the ball, ending the first half 2-0 in favour of England.

The super Eagles of Nigerian made some changes going into the second half, to give the team some needed balance, as the likes of Sheihu, Onazi and Joel Obi were taken off, for John Ogu, Etebo, and Omerue. These changes changed the game in the second half, as Super Eagles took control of the game, to pull back an early goal to end the game with a respectable score line.

This will be the second time England will be beating Nigeria, after 2002, and Iwobi’s goal is the first the will be conceding from Nigeria.
