On Saturday 23rd October 2021, which was Pele’s birthday, saw a lot of footballers, friends and football journalists posting photos and sending their best wishes to the Brazilian football legend. But it was the throwback photos shared on a social media post by one of his daughters Kely Nascimento that really caught our eyes.
Kely Nascimento who was one of those that took care of one of the world’s football legend during his time at the hospital, and giving updates about his state of health, while marking Pele’s birthday, posted photos from way back 2003 and 2015, showing Pele with his grandchildren.
She posted the photos with a caption that reads:
” Picking passion fruit with Tutu. Doing what he loves. 2015,” she said.
Pele’s daughter Kely Nascimento in September, while Pele was still at the hospital, released a statement refuting the rumours about the death of her father.
She said: “he is recovering well and within normal range. Promise!,” she had said in a post.
The Brazilian and football legend, Pele 81 who was transferred briefly to an intensive care unit in Albert Einstein hospital a Sao Paulo hospital over a breathing difficulty, underwent an operation in September.
“After breathing difficulties”, Pelé was “transferred preventively to an intensive care unit and, once his condition stabilized, the patient was placed in semi-intensive care,” the hospital said. Pelé had been operated on September 4 for a “suspicious” tumour in the colon discovered during routine examinations.
He remained in intensive care until September 14, before being transferred to a normal room. His situation then was considered “stable from a cardiovascular and respiratory point of view”. He “continues to recover from his abdominal surgery.”
Kely Nascimento who alongside her other family members have been updating fans about the health of Pele, in a post on her official social media handle on Wednesday 29th September 2021, thanked fans for all their prayers and love, as she confirmed that her father will be leaving the hospital and Brazil, as we suspect he has been moved to the United States. She said:
“Bye-bye Brazil. I loved including my Father’s recovery in my social. It wasn’t planned, it was a decision we made at the hospital to try to have a little fun with you guys.
Now that he’s stronger and leaving the hospital to continue recovering and treating himself at home, I’m going back home and my posts will go back to being posts about my work, my city, food, drink, my kids, dogs and chickens!!
