APC State Congress: Ganduje Hailed By Kano Lawmakers

Preparations for All Progressives Congress, APC State Congress in Kano are in top gear, as governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje met with stakeholders, at Africa House, Government House, Kano on Thursday. The stakeholders advised that, where consensus could work in the APC State Congress, party members should make that possible and where there are contestants, election into such offices must take place.

“In all the two situations, consensus or contest, the election must take place to validate consensus arrangement, where applicable and to provide an equal atmosphere for all party members to compete, when more than one person is seeking for position or positions,” he explained.

At the meeting, there was Senator Kabiru Ibrahim Gaya, representing Kano South, 20 members of House of Representatives, including the House Majority Leader, Hon Alhassan Ado Doguwa, 28 members of the State House of Assembly, party leaders, chairmen of the 44 local governments, leaders of caucuses from all the 44 local governments, among others.

Governor Ganduje reminded that, “We had successful Ward Congresses and local governments Congresses. Which we did through contacting all our stakeholders at all levels. And we are now facing state Congress, then zonal Congress and finally National Convention.”

All party members, according to the governor, have an equal chance to contest any position of their interest, adding that, “We can do consensus and where consensus proves impossible, the election must hold instead. And at whatever rate, the election is necessary.”

“I am thanking Senator Kabiru Ibrahim Gaya and all our 20 members of the House of Representatives. Particularly the House Leader, Hon Alhassan Ado Doguwa. So also leaders of the party who are here. I am also thanking all the 44 local governments chairmen, and all other stakeholders who honoured our invitation for today’s meeting,” he emphasized.

House Leader, Doguwa, who spoke on behalf of 20 members of the House of Representatives, assured their support to governor Ganduje’s effort to make the party stronger.
