Ras Kimono: Efemena Okedia wife of reggae legend is dead, just three months after her husband and Nigerian Reggae musician died earlier this year on his way to the airport in Lagos.
The late Efemena Okdedia was said to have died in the early hours of Sunday morning at her residence in Lagos, after complaining of a stomach upset the previous day.
She was reported to have suffered from a possible food poison, after attended a family function on Saturday, September 22, 2018. She complained of ill-health on Sunday morning and was rushed to the hospital, but died on her way.
Her death is similar to that of Ras Kimono, as before his death, he had planned to travel out of the country (he was leaving for the United States) and suddenly complained about not feeling too well. He was rushed to an unnamed Hospital in Ikeja, then later transferred to Lagoon Hospital Lagos where he was pronounced dead a few hours later.
The late Okedi who was the third wife of the late Ras Kimono, was his close associate in the music business before his death. They were also good friends, as she was a member of his back up singers during his lifetime as a musician.
The two were said to be soul mates, and that it was impossible to see Ras Kimono without seeing his wife Efemena, as the two were always together.
She has also been credited for being the brain behind Ras Kimono’s band, as she managed everything as an artiste and artiste manager.
This clearly is a really sad news for the families of the late Ras Kimono and his wife, as just a few weeks after Ras Kimono died and was buried, the families are about going through another mourning.
It is also a big loss to the Nigerian entertainment industry, as the late Efemena Okedi just like her late husband, has also contributed immensely to the growth of music and reggae music genre in Nigeria.
