Nigeria beat Cape Verde 1-2 in their second game in the ongoing FIFA 2022 World cup qualifiers, to record their second win in two matches so far.

The game which took place in Cape Verde on Tuesday 7th September 2021, saw the host going ahead in the 19th minutes after a goal from Dylan Taveres. The Super Eagles of Nigeria however managed to equal the score before the half-time break, courtesy of Victor Osimhen in the 29th minute.

The game was a good challenge for the Super Eagles of Nigeria, which lined up players who played their professional football game outside of the United Kingdom. The winning goal for the Super Eagles of Nigeria came in the second half, and it was an own goal scored by Kenny Rochas Santos in the 76th minutes.

Nigeria beat Cape Verde to top Group C with six points in two games, while Liberia is second with three points, with Cape Verde and the Central Africa Republic with one point each.

The Nigeria Vs Cape Verde line-up comprises mostly the names of players who are not based in the United Kingdom, due to the coronavirus red-zone restrictions.

Also, the win by the Super Eagles of Nigeria which is coming a few days after they triumphed over Liberia in their first game in Lagos, means that they are now N20million naira richer.

This is so because the Eagles were promised the sum of N20million if they win the match, by the Chairman of Air Peace airline, Barrister Allen Onyema whose company is the official sponsor of the Nigeria National football teams.
