LeBron James mourns the late Kobe Bryant who died alongside eight others on Sunday in a helicopter crash at the city of Calabasas, California.
LeBron James who is still in shock about the sad news, took to his Instagram page on Monday night to share an emotional tribute to the late Los Angeles Lakers star and Legend.
He put up a series of photos capturing some of their best times, and the last message he got from Kobe Bryant after he surpassed him as third on the NBA’s All-Time scoring list.
LeBron took to his Instagram page said:
“I’m Not Ready but here I go. Man I sitting here trying to write something for this post but every time I try I begin crying again just thinking about you, niece Gigi and the friendship/bond/brotherhood we had! I literally just heard your voice Sunday morning before I left Philly to head back to LA. Didn’t think for one bit in a million years that would be the last conversation we’d have. WTF!!
He continued with:
“I’m heartbroken and devastated my brother!! 😢😢😢😢💔. Man I love you big bro. My heart goes to Vanessa and the kids. I promise you I’ll continue your legacy man! You mean so much to us all here especially #LakerNation💜💛 and it’s my responsibility to put this shit on my back and keep it going!! Please give me the strength from the heavens above and watch over me! I got US here! There’s so much more I want to say but just can’t right now because I can’t get through it! Kobe Bryant and his 13-year-old daughter, Gianna, were killed on their way to a basketball game in Thousand Oaks, California, where Gianna was scheduled to play.
Also killed were a community college baseball coach and his wife and daughter, an assistant girls basketball coach from Corona del Mal and a mother with her daughter, all on their way to the same game.
The helicopter’s pilot also died in the crash.
LeBron James and the late #Kobe shared a good relationship, and although there was never any sign of rivalry, the two showed each other great respect. They were teammates when they both helped the United States to a gold medal in the 2008 and 2012 Olympics. But never played as a teammate in the NBA.
Bryant’s last tweet was a congratulatory message to James for passing him on the NBA all-time scorers list
to claim the third spot. James has scored 33,655 points throughout his career. Bryant scored 33,643. He had tweeted this to LeBron in Saturday’s game against the Philadelphia 76ers
“Continuing to move the game forward #KingJames,” Bryant tweeted on the night before the accident. “Much respect my brother.”
