D'Tigress Of Nigeria Fall 87-62 To France

Nigeria women’s basketball team, known as D’Tigress, on Friday recorded yet another defeat in their second game against the French Women’s basketball team at the ongoing Tokyo 2020 Olympics.

D’Tigress fell 87-62 to the French Women’s basketball team, putting their hope in advancing to the next round of the Olympic competition in danger.

The game played in the early hours of Friday 30th July 2021, was the Nigerian ladies’ second defeat at the Games having lost their opening encounter against the United States.

Only a miracle will push the Otis Hughley side to the quarterfinals, after two defeats. Both the D’Tigress and D’Tigers will be hoping for a miracle which Nigerians are used to, to advance to the next stage of the competition.

Nigeria lost the first three quarters; 18-12, 26-15, 23-15 and drew the fourth 20-20, and will need to beat hosts Japan in their final game to stand a chance of advancing from the group.

Victory over Japan would however not be enough for the Nigerian ladies, who would also need for the other result between USA and Japan to go their way.

Friday’s performance was a far cry from what was expected of the ladies as they had out in a way more impressive effort in their opening game against world number one, USA.
