A High Court in Kaduna State on Wednesday acquitted the leader of the Islamic Movement in Nigeria (IMN) Ibrahim El-Zakzaky and wife Zeenat.
The court also directed that Ibrahim El-Zakzaky and wife Zeenat should be immediately released from detention and set free.
This is not the first time the court have ordered that the cleric and his wife be set free, but the government has continued to keep them both in detention.
El-Zakzaky and his wife are facing an eight-count of culpable homicide, unlawful assembly, disturbance of public peace at the Kaduna State High Court. The charges were filed against them by the Kaduna State Government and the duo were first arraigned in May 2018.
