WTO Director-General Okonjo-Iweala Visits Buhari

The newly elected World Trade Organisation, WTO Director-General Okonjo-Iweala is reported to be in Abuja on an official visit to see President Muhammadu Buhari.

According to a statement released a few minutes ago, by the Personal Assistant to the President on New Media, Bashir Ahmad, the
WTO Director-General Okonjo-Iweala arrived the State House, Abuja on Monday 15th March 2021, to meet President Muhammadu Buhari.

This is her first visit to Nigeria, her home country since she assumed office two weeks ago.

And speaking to the reporters at the state House, the WTO DG said:


I felt I had to come to Nigeria first, to say thank you, to Mr President; to thank him for his nomination and his support, he signed so many letters, he talked to so many people.

I want to say a special thank you to young people in Nigeria. They were on social media sending so many encouraging videos,” she said.

On some of the issues she discussed with President Buhari, according to the Presidency, are:

—Improving Nigeria’s share of global trade
—Developing Nigeria’s Services sector
—Covid-19
—Attracting investment; training & capacity building
—Safe Schools
