Thiago Silva is the first Chelsea player to thank former manager, Frank Lampard following his sacking by the English Premier League club on Monday.

Thiago Silva taking to his social media account, said:

‘I would like to thank you for everything you and your committee have done for me since the day I arrived’, Silva wrote.
‘As I told you, it seemed like we had been together for 10 years!! Thank you for everything legend.’ he said.

Thiago Silva is now set for an awkward reunion with former manager, Thomas Tuchel who has been rumoured to be heading to Chelsea as their new manager, to replace Frank Lampard.

Tuchel and Silva both won four major honours during their time at PSG, and although no reports of any bad blood between them, reports have it that after the 47-year-old was sacked by the Ligue 1 club, Silva – who left PSG to join Chelsea in the summer had told French Broadcaster RMC Sport: ‘It’s difficult but it was predictable that this was going to happen.

‘Not now, but being inside, we knew there were situations that had to be changed. In my opinion, Leonardo took the situation in hand, he made his choice.

‘We do not know if it was good, it was not at all for Tuchel and his staff, especially after the match (4-0 defeat of Strasbourg). This change was not planned at this time.’

The sacking of Frank Lampard by the club owner, Roman Abramovich did not come as a shock to many, given his poor run of results. The club and owner pointed this out as the major reason he was sacked.

The club owner in a statement which announced the sacking of Lampard, said the sacking comes due to his inability to meet club’s expectations, leaving the club mid-table without any clear path to sustained improvement.

He described Lampard as a ‘man of great integrity’ in the statement confirming his dismissal but added: ‘Under current circumstances, we believe it is best to change managers’ with the club in mid-table.
