Edo State Records 2 New Deaths And 18 New Cases Of Coronavirus

The Edo state government has announced that the state has recorded two new deaths and 18 new cases of coronavirus. This latest news brings the total active cases in the state to 90.

The report also shows that the total number of infected persons in the state and at the national level keeps increasing on the daily.

Governor Godwin Obaseki who made this known on Wednesday 30th December 2020, stated that, as Edo state combat the 2nd wave of the pandemic, he is urging citizens to take personal responsibility to protect themselves and their loved ones this season, while asking them to stay safe.

“As we battle to contain the 2nd wave of #COVID19 pandemic, it is important to follow precautionary health and safety protocols to protect yourself and your loved ones. This calls for everyone to take personal responsibility so that we can collectively overcome this challenge,” the Governor added while announcing the two new deaths and 18 new cases.

Before the confirmation of the two new deaths and 18 new cases in Edo state, the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) had announced on Wednesday that a total of 749 new cases of COVID-19 were recorded. The new figures showed that Lagos and Plateau states recorded the highest new cases.

The 749 new cases according to the report by NCDC on Wednesday 30th December 2020, shows the following distributions across 18 states, including the Federal Capital Territory.

NCDC in their report, also stated that a total of 85,560 cases have been confirmed, with 71,937 discharged and 1,267 deaths recorded.
