The Chairman, Nigerians In Diaspora Commission, Abike Dabiri has received the family of Sulaimon Olufemi, a Nigerian on death row for 18 years in Saudi Arabia over a mob killing of a Police officer.
The family of the Nigerian on Death Row, are appealing to the Saudi government to free their son.
Hon. Abike, in a statement released on Wednesday 30th December 2020, by the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NIDCOM), assured the family that NiDCOM is working with the Nigerian mission in Saudi to look into the issue.
The commission added that the Chairman stated that the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mr Onyeama has also gotten in touch with the appropriate authorities in Saudi on the case of Sulaimon Olufemi who is on death row in Saudi Arabia.
The Commission in their statement, further added that Hon. Tolulope Akande Sadipe, the Chairman House Committee on Diaspora is also on the matter. “Olufemi‘s case is now dependent on a pardon by the daughter of the slain officer, who was 2 years old when her father was killed.
“Now 20, she has to decide if he should be killed or freed.
Some members of the diaspora community in Saudi have also been engaging the family,” the commission added.
