Baby Miracle In Stable Condition After Amputation

Baby Miracle who was earlier reported to have been abused by his father, is presently receiving attention at the Federal Medical Center Owerri.

Recall that the two-months old baby boy, named Miracle was beaten by his father with a plastic hanger, which led to the damage of his right hand.

According to the statement released on Wednesday 26th October 2022, by the First Lady of Imo State, Chioma Uzodimma, the Management Staff of the Ministry of Women Affairs and Vulnerable Groups, Owerri, recently visited baby Miracle at the paediatric ward of Federal Medical Center, Owerri.

Representing the Honourable Commissioner for Women Affairs and Vulnerable Groups Lady Nkechinyere Ugwu, was the Head of Child Department in the Ministry, Mr. Benjamin Amaefula.

Amaefula stated that, “we came on behalf of Her Excellency, Barr Mrs. Chioma Uzodimma, to render help and support to the baby and his mother”.

Baby Miracle is said to be stable and recuperating after the sad amputation of his right hand.

Favour Chikpe, the 20 year old mother of the baby narrated that the child’s father prevented her from getting required help for the baby leading to the amputation of the hand,” the statement added.

The 31 year old culprit, Mr. Confidence Amatobi, a native of Amurie in Isu LGA of Imo State, who has since gone into hiding while trying to evade justice has been declared wanted and therefore, is being sought by law enforcement agencies.

Imo First lady Barrister Chioma Uzodimma has directed that the Ministry accord all needed help to the baby while efforts are being made to get the culprit Mr. Confidence Amatobi behind bars.

“Our appreciation goes to the Imo State Chairperson of Nigerian Association of Women Journalists (NAWOJ), Dr. Dorothy Nnaji, the Imo State Coordinator of National Human Rights Commission (NHRC), Mrs. Ukachi Ukah, Doctors, Nurses, and all good citizens who collaborated to make sure that baby Miracle got the medical attention he needed.

We will provide the infant’s mother with the required assistance in the interim and remain committed to preventing and eliminating forms of child abuse in the State. We will also ensure that his abuser is arrested and faces the full weight of the law as no stone will be left unturned in the fight to get justice for baby Miracle,” Chioma Uzodimma added.
