The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has expanded the caretaker working Committee in Ebonyi state. This comes a few hours after the committee was constituted.
Following the dissolution of the State Executive Committee of the party by the National Working Committee(NWC) on Tuesday, and the announcement of a new one, the party has further approved the expansion of the newly constituted Ebonyi state caretaker working committee of the party.
The additional members of the Ebonyi State caretaker committee are:
Barr. James Onah – Assistant Secretary And
Mr Monday Chukwu As Treasurer
The PDP Publicity Secretary, Kola Ologbondiyan had announced this in a statement on Wednesday 18th November 2020. His statement comes after he said the Ebonyi caretaker working committee is in line with the provisions of the party’s constitution. He had said:
“Following the dissolution of the Ebonyi State Exco of our great party, the National Working Committee (NWC) has constituted a state caretaker committee to pilot the affairs of the party in Ebonyi state in line with the provisions of the constitution of the PDP’.
“Members of the Ebonyi state caretaker committee are:
HonFred Udeogu – Chairman,
Luke Nkwegu – Secretary and
Gideon Osi – Publicity Secretary.
Others are James Alaka – Organizing Secretary,
Amaka Igboke – Women Leader,
Mudi Irenede – Legal Adviser
Barr. Ibeshi – Youth Leader.
“The decision of the NWC in this regard is pursuant to the powers conferred on it by the provisions of the PDP Constitution (2017 as amended)”, Mr Ologbondiyan said.
“All out Leaders, members and teeming supporters of the party in Ebonyi state and the southeast are by this guided accordingly”, he added. But chairman of the dissolved State Working Committee, Onyekachi Nwebonyi, has said the NWC has no right to carry out the dissolution.
Nwebonyi, in a terse statement on Tuesday, said: ‘Nobody can dissolve a duly elected PDP State executive committee in Ebonyi State under my watch.
“The purported action of NWC if true is illegal, unconstitutional and of no effect”.
