A few days after their 8-2 humiliating Champions League defeat in the hands of Bayern Munich, Barcelona are said to be looking at their ex-player, Ronald Koeman as a possible replacement to Quique Setien.
Although no official statement as regarding the latest news linking Ronald Koeman to the Barcelona top job, reports in Spain have it that the La Liga giants are looking to overhaul their entire team, after the Bayern Munich defeat that has left everyone questioning the policies of the board as regarding the signing of players and managers.
Newspaper reports in Spain are saying that former Barcelona player Koeman is returning to the Nou Camp as their next manager, and that the details of his contract are being finalised following negotiations with the Dutch Football Association.
Koeman will reportedly sign a two-year contract though any longer-term stay is likely to depend on the outcome of the club’s presidential elections next year.
Both Ronald Koeman and the former Tottenham Hotspur manager Mauricio Pochettino are the two favourites for the manager’s job.
Barcelona are also looking to chop seven first-team players, namely Ivan Rakitic, Ousmane Dembele, Arturo Vidal, Arthur Melo, Junior Firpo, Martin Braithwaite and Samuel Umtiti.
Melo has already agreed to a deal to join Juventus, while Rakitic and Vidal have also been linked to clubs in Italy.
