Fernandes Explains His Clash With Lindelof After Sevilla Defeat

Manchester United were knocked out of the Europa League last night, and while that is no longer news, the shameful display by Bruno Fernandes and Victor Lindelof has been one of the topics of discussion on social media.

Both Bruno Fernandes and Victor Lindelof were caught on tape in a furious row after Sevilla netted their second and winning goal at the Semi-final game played Sunday night. And while fans picked sides as to who to blame and who not to blame, Bruno Fernandes has described the incident as normal, and nothing serious.

While speaking on the incident after their painful exit and missing a chance for the Cologne finals, Bruno Fernandes said:

‘It is normal when you concede a goal, everyone was mad,’ the Portuguese talent said on the incident.

‘It was not about me or Victor, what happened is nothing. It was normal, it is about looking out for each other. It will happen in a lot more teams too.’

‘We need to watch the mistakes everyone made.’

Lindelof, who spent five years with Benfica, appeared to be caught by television cameras telling Fernandes ‘f*** you’ followed by ‘Filho da Puta’ in Portuguese to his midfield team-mate – which translates as ‘son of a b****’.

It came after De Jong’s 78th-minute winner, as the Sevilla man was unmarked before getting a cross from Jesus Navas’. The Sevilla man had three Manchester defenders around him, and yet was able to find the net for the winner. Bruno Fernandes only picked on Lindelof, when neither Harry Maguire nor Aaron Wan-Bissaka was tight enough to the striker.

Solskjaer speaking on the incident, said: ‘It was a disappointing goal to give away,’ he said. I want the players to be accountable and hold others to account.’

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side had already taken some of the pressure of success by qualifying for the Champions League with third-place in the Premiership but were devastated that their gruelling run in the competition ended in failure.
