Chelsea on Tuesday night, took all three points, when they played host to already relegated Norwich City at the Stamford Bridge. The win means, Chelsea are still 3rd with 63 points and 4-points clear off Leicester City, and Manchester United who are both on 59 points each, with Leicester City in 4th due to better goal difference.
The Frank Lampard tutored side which needed a win after an embarrassing 0-3 defeat away to Sheffield United over the weekend, made sure they took all three points, with Olivier Giroud’s blasting header saving the day for the Blues.
It was a tough game for both teams and a nail-biting end, as Norwich City tried all they could to deny Chelsea all three points and their attempts to go 4-points clear. Their set up and arrangements, with high pressing, and closing all gaps, made it difficult for Chelsea to penetrate through the middle, and made the game difficult for Chelsea players to find their striker. It was also frustrating for those watching at home, especially the fans. But Chelsea with some patience and a little bit of courage, managed to find their striker Olivier Giroud, who headed home a cross from Pulisic to put the Blues ahead, and the eventual 3-points.
The game was a difficult one, and from what we saw tonight, Chelsea need to be doing more to break down teams and get their goals to be sure of making it into the Champions League next season. The two remaining games against Liverpool and Wolves are going to be a difficult one, except somehow, both Manchester United and Leicester City drop points again.
