British supermodel, and actress, Naomi Campbell has taken to her social media accounts to mourn her friend, Zindzi Mandela who is the youngest daughter of Nelson Mandela.
Zindzi Mandela before her death, was South Africa’s Ambassador to Denmark and was aged 59.
Naomi Campbell on Tuesday 14th July 2020, took to her Instagram account, to post a series of photos of some of their time together. She captions the photos with a message explaining their friendship. She said:
“To my Sister Ambassador Zindzi Mandela , cannot believe Iโm even writing this , you leaving us as shook me / us all to the core . From the very first time we met in Johannesburg, you embraced me as a sister into the Mandela family , your wit , your incredible Mind with so much empathy to all , , your observing eyes never missed a moment . Yet you like Tata never blamed always tried to see the best in people , with your forgiving nature . When it would have been understood if you were not to be this way , after all you endured and witnessed in your life time.
Being the daughter of President Mandela and Mama Winnie , we will never be able to imagine what you went through during those times of Apartheid and civil unrest, yet still always that warm embrace and making all feel comfortable. You held your moral ground of what you believed in, and never faltered or swayed.
You wrote beautiful poetry that of your past to give us insight, in beautiful way . Your stillness without words was even more powerful than you may have known,’ she said.
Naomi Campbell continued by adding that:
“You taught and supported me to never back down , as Black woman to stand Tall , when I would call and tell you , I was the only person of color in a room . You would make me see and understand the importance of representing our culture . That smile that husky and sweet voice of strength and dignity.
Iโm going to miss you so .,and you have taught me itโs ok to cry for the souls we miss as our strength will grow ever more , and our time has come . ,taken from us too soon .
I know that you are with Tata and Mama Winnie now . Know that you are Missed and loved and mourned,Not only buy the Great continent of Africa, not only by the Nation of South Africa, but by all that met you in the world. I will see you again Sis on the other side.

The death of Zindzi Mandela was announced by the South African Department of International Relations and Cooperation on Monday.
“Zindzi will not only be remembered as a daughter of our struggle heroes, Tata Nelson and Mama Winnie Mandela, but as a struggle heroine in her own right. She served South Africa well,” Naledi Pandor, Minister of International Relations, said in a short statement Monday morning.
The department said it was still gathering information on the cause of Mandela’s death and expects to release a detailed statement later.
