Governor Ifeanyi Okowa of Delta State, has revealed that himself and his wife, Edith Okowa have tested positive to coronavirus.
The statement by the Governor on the health status of his family, comes a few days after he reported that one of his daughters tested positive to the virus. He revealed this on his official social media handles on Wednesday 1st July 2020.
Taking to his social media handle, Governor Okowa posted a photo of himself, with a caption that revealed his status and that of his lovely wife, Edith Okowa. He said:
“My wife and I have tested positive for COVID-19. We are well and continuing with our isolation/medication. We thank you all for your continued prayers for us and our daughter,” he said.
Recall that we reported here first that one of the daughters of the Delta State governor, whose name was not made public, was confirmed positive.
Dr Okowa, who shared the unfortunate news on his official social media accounts on Friday 26th June 2020, said himself and his wife Edith Okowa received the news that one of their daughters has tested positive. Hence, they are going to observe the 14-day mandatory self-isolation. He had said:
“Earlier today, Edith and I received the news that one of our daughters has tested positive for #COVID19. Hence, in-line with the laid out procedures, we are both going into isolation for the next 14-days. We will continue to keep you all updated,” he said.
Our prayers are with the first family of Delta state, and others currently battling with the virus across the country.
