The Ooni of Ife Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi, Ojaja II on Tuesday 28th April 2020, presented three locally made motorized modular fumigators and a drone sprinkler–fumigator, for aerial fumigation purposes to the Lagos State Government as his contribution to the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic.

Presenting the equipment to Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, at the Lagos House, Marina, the Ooni said the fumigators and sprinklers which were fabricated within his Palace, converts liquid sanitisers to fogs, travels faster and stays longer in the air and could help fight the Coronavirus and other aerosolised viruses.

Describing the items as his own contribution, Oba Ogunwusi encouraged all Nigerians to join hands with the government in the fight against COVID-19 and look beyond palliatives by coming up with more local solutions to the pandemic and other challenges confronting the nation.

“We are even looking beyond COVID-19, the truth be told, the world will never be the same again, it is very important for us to know that the day we start looking inward, thinking about what we can do to develop our country and promote our technology, the better for us as a nation,” Ooni said.

Governor Sanwo-Olu who shared the good news on his official social media handles a few hours ago, shared some photos from the presentation at the statehouse in Lagos. He captioned the photos saying:

“Earlier today, we had the immense pleasure of playing host to the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi, Ojaja II.

The eminent Royal Father presented 3 locally manufactured motorized modular fumigators and a drone sprinkler–fumigator, for aerial fumigation purposes to the Lagos State Government as his contribution to the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic.

These fumigators are not only locally fabricated, and environmentally-friendly, they convert the liquid sanitizer to a fog that travels faster and stays longer to fight Corona and any other virus in the community.

We are extremely grateful to His Majesty for this generous and functional donation.

I also commend the traditional ruler for using his office as a strong institution to communicate the reality of the novel coronavirus to our citizens.

The Royal Father is not only an enabler, but he is also a significant part of Governance in Nigeria. He has demonstrated that we can look inwards and collectively seek internal solutions to tackle the pandemic.

Whilst we remain thankful to all private donors who have continued to display generosity in this trying period, we will continue to encourage local solutions that seek to address the COVID-19 pandemic currently experienced globally,” he said.
